Work Club for Improvers — Part-time
Course outline
This is a weekly course for students who are looking for employment and would like help with applying for jobs and interview techniques.
The course includes:
- Building and producing a CV
- Building confidence in completing application forms and understanding how to create the best chances of getting an interview and securing a job
- Job search - how to search vacancies online and upload your CV on to relevant websites
- Interview techniques - how to make the most of your chance to sell yourself and your skills, how to answer difficult questions and become more confident and less nervous of interviews for jobs, college or personal reasons
Community classes are first steps into learning for many adults, enabling them to find out more about a subject of interest in a welcoming, inclusive local venue.
From September 2024, funding changes mean that courses primary aim is to support students into further education or employment opportunities (paid or voluntary). If students wish to continue studying the same subject on a leisure basis, it may be possible to set up full cost courses, subject to tutor and room availability.

| Entry requirements | You must be aged 19+ and have a good standard of English as you will be required to complete a short workbook with the help of your tutor. |
| Teaching & assessment | Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course. |
| Progression | There may be opportunities to progress onto other courses both in the community and at Nottingham College sites. The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities if you wish to further your learning in this subject area.
