Plastering (Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you want to improve your plastering skills and think you’ve got what it takes to carve out a career as a plasterer.

You’ll learn all about plastering in a commercial and domestic setting including:

  • Internal solid plastering
  • One and two coat rendering systems
  • Mechanically fixing plasterboard
  • Setting up scaffolding
  • Fixing and finishing dry lining

Customer service skills and working on large projects are also important aspects of this course.

You can expect a combination of practical and theoretical learning to give you a good degree of knowledge and practice in this tricky but satisfying art form. You’ll develop your skills within dedicated workshop spaces and with the full support of very experienced tutors, all with professional plastering backgrounds.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to have completed a Level 1 vocational qualification in a related field and have gained 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.

For applicants aged 19+, relevant industry experience may be considered.

Teaching & assessment

It will include a multiple choice paper, a practical assessment and an external online test.

Progression

Choose to follow with an apprenticeship in plastering or a related field or going into full-time permanent employment as a qualified plasterer.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
