The Pathfinder Academy is aimed at providing adults with opportunities to study part-time to improve their skills in maths, English and ESOL (English for Speakers of other languages) as well as provide short taster courses in a variety of subjects out and about with community learning.

We also work with local employers like the NHS and Boots to deliver work related training on work premises to support employers who value their staff and want to update their skills.

You can join a course at any time of the year with our flexible start dates and study at time that suits you - day or evening.

To further improve your employment opportunities we are now offering new ‘employability’ and ‘volunteering’ courses as well as a new ‘Women Returners’ course to provide women who may have been out of the workplace for some time a chance to brush up on their skills in both a classroom setting and on a short work placement in college.

The Family Learning team run Literacy and Numeracy courses for parents in schools across the City and County. They will help improve your skills in a fun and friendly way to enable you to help your children at school, to find out the new methods they are taught and to gain a qualification for yourself.
Ask your child’s school if they are running a Family Learning Group so you can access easy and stress free learning. All Family Learning courses are free of charge.

Our Community Learning team offers an extensive choice of courses and workshops from Asian Bridal Make up to Paediatric First Aid at venues across the city and county. Whether you are looking for a first step back into education or employment or simply want to try something new come and take a look!

Our courses will give you the skills you need to take a first step back in to learning, improve your skills to better your job prospects or even up-skill you to improve your chances of promotion.
