ncn Corporation

Chair of Corporation

Michael was appointed Chair of New College Nottingham’s Governing Board in September 2016, prior to this he was a member of the ncn Board for three years and is also a member of Designate Board appointed to oversee the merger between New College Nottingham and Central College Nottingham.
Michael is founder and director of Michael Wisher Associates, a leading provider of hospitality staff and personnel to high profile events in the UK and internationally.
He is also on the board of Governors for Chilwell School, is a member of the Regional Development Board for the National Centre for Citizenship and Law which delivers education programmes in heritage sites across the UK, and is a partner in English Homes Estate Agents.

Michael says:

"I’m extremely proud to have been elected as Chair of Governors at New College Nottingham (ncn) – the very place where I chose to study.
As a catering and hospitality student based at the college’s Clarendon campus, I gained the qualifications and skills I needed to start my career and now, two decades later, I’m in the very fortunate position of being able to give something back.
Here at ncn, we don’t just deliver qualifications, we give people the foundation they need to build a rewarding career, and I’m just one of the many thousands who have come and gone through its doors and gone on to realise my dreams and ambitions.
As Chair of Governors, it’s my responsibility to ensure the college continues in this great tradition by responding to the needs of students and employers today and in the future.
To this end, ncn will soon be merging with Central College Nottingham to create Nottingham College – a single further education college for the city which will create a sustainable future for post-16 education in our communities.
My own experience of further education means I believe deeply in its power to change lives, which is why I’m such a passionate advocate for merger – it will allow us to create an incredible experience for our students and to become a specialist hub for employers looking to develop their workforce.
I believe wholeheartedly that the decision to merge is in the best interest of Nottingham and its communities, and I’ll be working hard with my colleagues on the Board and in the college’s senior leadership team to ensure it is a great success."
