Exciting new developments at Basford!

At our Basford campus we have some exciting new developments going on! We are building two new facilities, our Construction Skills Centre and Centre for Supported Learning. These two new facilities are being built at the same time, so there’s currently lots of activity happening at Basford.

Launching ZERO, our sustainability pledge

Nottingham has serious sustainability ambitions for the city and as a college we share these ambitions. As a large employer, occupying a sizeable estate, we must set an example for responsible environmental management and we have a duty to raise environmental awareness among our staff and learners.

Our wonderful catering students have organised a sponsored Litter Picking Walk to raise money for Rainbows Hospice, who provided palliative care for one of our student’s younger sister, Freya. 👏

The hospice offers a wide range of activities and support for families in their time of need and the funds raised from this walk will go directly to them, helping them continue their invaluable services.🙌

Some of our Level 3 Business students Charlotte, Ravneet and Bella have submitted their entry to the Technovation Challenge, a global programme aimed at empowering young women to become tech leaders and entrepreneurs. 👩‍💻

The group have called themselves ‘Girls Supporting Girls’. They have created an app which focuses on creating an educational and safe space for young girls to learn about puberty, anonymously ask questions, find resources outside of college, and features an AI chatbot.

If their entry is selected for the competition's final, the girls will be invited to pitch their idea on a stage in San Francisco.🌎

This week, as part of Earth Day celebrations, we held a sustainability pledge competition. ♻️

The response was amazing, both staff and students participated and we received many fantastic entries. Our college sustainability lead, Matt Bunn, and his committee have selected two winners from each category. 🙌

We are so grateful for everyone who participated and for their dedication to making a positive impact on the environment.💚
