Abbie Roddis
Fashion & Textiles Apprenticeship
Fashion apprentice Abbie Roddis, 17, is completing her Apprenticeship with Nottingham-based fair trade clothing company Fresh Cargo.
Founded by ethical entrepreneur Rebecca Gray, Fresh Cargo is the first fair trade company in the UK to support the government Apprenticeship Scheme. The company specialises in funding and supporting producer groups from developing countries. These groups help Fresh Cargo create fun, funky fair trade clothing and gifts.
As part of her Apprenticeship, Abbie is gaining first-hand experience in sales, finance, buying, design and logistics. She will also achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration and Fashion Textiles.
Rebecca said: “We have been so impressed with the support we have received from New College Nottingham and our first apprentice Abbie Roddis. Since she has come on board we have managed to improve our sales and sharpen up our customer service.”
Sarah Long, ncn Business Advisor, said: “We are delighted with the success of Fresh Cargo’s Apprenticeship program and how it has worked on two levels; improving the performance of the company and assisting in the development of a young person’s career.”
