Robyn Coleman
Creative Intermediate Apprenticeship
Robyn recently completed an Intermediate Level Creative Apprenticeship at ncn Clarendon, specialising in technical theatre.
“I worked part-time in a supermarket whilst at school and carried on working after my ‘A’ Levels until I heard about the Creative Apprenticeship. I’d never considered a job in the theatre before, but now I can’t imagine not working in the performing arts industry.
“I’ve got so much from the Apprenticeship and have made so many friends. The thing I most enjoyed was that it was so unpredictable and never boring; I’d be doing something different every day and learning new things all of the time. It never felt like work because I was involved in so many fun things. I’ve gained a great knowledge of working in theatre but, most importantly, I’ve developed a love for it.
“Although the Apprenticeship doesn’t guarantee a job at the end of it, I’d still recommend it to people who like the hands-on approach to learning. A year’s experience of lighting and rigging in real theatres gives you knowledge you can’t gain from reading a book.”
