Key Skills are essential skills that help you get on in education, employment and everyday life. They focus on improving competence in communication, numeracy and IT, plus personal skills such as problem solving, managing your own learning time and working with others.
Key Skills will be part of your full-time College course and can be developed from Level 1 (Foundation) through to Level 3 (Advanced). All are nationally recognised qualifications which aim to prepare you for your future career and the changing demands of the world of work.
Key Skills will help you to:
- Improve your performance and achievement within your main subject area(s).
- Strengthen your communication, numeracy and information technology techniques.
- Develop team working and interpersonal skills, which are highly valued by employers.
- Plan and manage your time effectively.
- Be confident in your own ability and personal development.
- Become more employable and use the skills for CV and job applications.
- Gain UCAS points if you are planning to go on to university.
