New College Nottingham offer two types of link courses for Special School pupils:
Taster courses
Taster courses run for 10 weeks and take place each term. Students attend for two hours per week and have an opportunity to study subjects with specialist teachers in realistic vocational teaching environments that they will not have the opportunity to experience at School.

- Music
- Painting & Decorating
- Plastering & Tiling
- Performing Arts
- Performing Arts & Music
- Personal Grooming
- Sewing & Creativity
Accredited courses
Accredited courses run for up to two hours per week for a whole year and lead to a certificate or qualification. These allow the study of some subjects in more depth than is possible at School.
Subjects available:
- Catering
- Construction
- Creativity
- ICT
- Performing Arts
- Science
Tutors will work with tutors to plan courses to suit the needs of the learners.
To ensure this process is as effective as possible we run a Special Schools forum where we invite representatives from Special Schools to work with the 14-16 team to make sure our provision is appropriate and responsive to the needs of the learners.
All Special Schools are contacted with details of our offer for the year and invited to apply for provision.
