When Jean McCarthy saw a flyer offering Computer Taster Sessions at St Georges Centre Netherfield, run by New College Nottingham (ncn), and decided to take the big step of signing up for them, she had no idea where this would lead.
With help and encouragement from her Tutor, Jacqui Doar, she not only completed that course, but went on to do further courses, earning Certificates in Word, Desk Top Publishing, PowerPoint, Spreadsheets, and Database, leading to a Diploma.
The friendly students in the class also encouraged her to succeed. As Jean had always enjoyed knitting, she used her new skills to create flyers and cards advertising her knitting for commissions.
