Frankfinn student, Prabhdeep Kaur, undertook her placement at Jury's Inn:
"I have mainly been working in the food and beverage department. It's great because I've met people from all over the world and from different places across the UK . We have learnt all about the different cuisines here in England and also service styles and drinks served. We are taught a lot about guest standards and the importance of customer service. I have received much more practical training on this programme than was available to me in India and I've really enjoyed it. We have to grasp new concepts quickly, but this hasn't been a problem thanks to the training and support we have received."
Students from the first group have already gained experience of working in corporate hospitality through placements with Michael Wisher Associates, at several high profile events during the summer, including the British Golf Open, British Formula One Grand Prix, Test Match Cricket and race meetings at Newbury and Ascot . Further placements in local hotels and hospitality establishments are offered later in the programme.
Positive feedback has been given by the hospitality industry partners who have been involved in this programme. John Murphy, General Manager at Jury's Inn, Nottingham, said:
"Jury's Inn have had four students on placement. They were fantastic; receptive to the training with a good sense of customer service skills. The programme itself is great - studying away from their home country allows the students to solely concentrate on their training. ncn has a good reputation for looking after students who are away from home, perhaps for the first time, and making them feel welcome."
Many of the students on graduating from the course progress to higher education study; either remaining at ncn to undertake the BA (Hons) Degree in Service Sector Management or moving to other HE institutions across the country.
