Our Facilities

Learning Centres

ncn High Pavement students are welcome to use any of the College’s six Learning Centres. We have a wide range of resources on offer to help you with your studies, including books, journals, online resources, DVDs and CDs.

The Learning Centre at ncn High Pavement Sixth Form College has 69 computers that you can use for searching the Internet, producing your assignments and accessing College information and learning materials. All computers are running on Windows XP, allowing all ncn High Pavement students access to any available terminal in the building. There are also digital cameras, scanners and colour printers available for you to use.

Learning Centre staff can help you make the best use of the resources on offer, which includes helping you off-site through our Ask a Librarian and Virtual Library services.

Science Laboratories

The well-equipped science laboratories, specific to each subject, have plenty of relevant resources for modern science courses, allowing you to work on your own or in groups. There are experienced laboratory technicians available who are always on hand to help.

The laboratories are equipped with data projectors and ICT facilities which permit data capture, video micrography and interactive simulation as well as standard presentation and Internet use.

Nottingham is a science city and we are fortunate to have links with BioCity, and as such, are able to make use of the laboratories for elements of our practical work.

Languages

French and German are both taught at ncn Lace Market ‘A’ Level Centre. Authentic materials are used in both courses, including newspapers and magazines, audio and videotapes, and foreign TV broadcasts where possible. You are actively encouraged to use the language laboratories in your studies as well as the computers and the wealth of other resources in the Learning Centres.
