Biology is studied at ncn High Pavement Sixth Form College.
This course can also be studied over two years, or as an intensive one-year programme for post-sixth form students or those aged 19+ at ncn Lace Market ‘A’ Level Centre.
What kind of student is this course suitable for?
The 'A' Level Biology we are offering has been developed to include modern applications of biology. It includes a high proportion of human biology within the content, but also looks at wider aspects of biological knowledge.
What will I achieve from the course?
We aim to develop your skills in researching information, so you become more involved in your own learning. As well as helping you to become familiar with the factual content of the subjects, we will develop your practical skills in laboratory work. You will have the opportunity to carry out microscope work as well as biochemical and physiological exercises.
Where the course may lead?
If you are thinking of a career in biological, medical, environmental or sports sciences, then ‘A’ level Biology provides a sound foundation. In the past, our students have progressed to read degrees in a wide range of subjects including Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Optometry, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.
