Course Content

2 units at 'AS' Level, including:

  • Methodology and Terminology of Art History: setting the visual arts in their social, cultural and historical contexts, visual analysis and interpretation
  • Materials and Techniques Used to Create Art: the ways in which subjects are interpreted and the styles and functions of art. Historical and social contexts, including patronage and the changing status of the artist

2 units at 'A2' Level, including:

  • The Study of a Prescribed Period of Western Painting, Sculpture and Architecture - areas covered include: materials and techniques, changing social, cultural and economic contexts, subject matter and function
  • Further Study of a Prescribed Period in the History of Western Art

Examinations.
