'A' Levels at ncn High Pavement Sixth Form College

An ‘A’ Level qualification comprises of one year studying at ‘AS’ Level followed by a second year studying at ‘A2’ Level.

You will need at least five GCSEs at Grades A*-C (including English or Mathematics) to start an ‘A’ Level programme with three ‘AS’ subjects in your first year. You will need six or more GCSEs at Grades A*-C (including English and Mathematics) to take four ‘AS’ subjects in your first year. At least three of the six GCSE subjects must be at Grades A-B. Look at the entry requirements for each course to see if you have the right GCSEs.

Students usually study three ‘A2’ subjects in their second year. Generally, you need to have two full ‘A’ Levels to move into Higher Education to study an HND or Foundation Degree, and three or four full ‘A’ Levels to do a Degree.
