Are there facilities for disabled students?
ncn tries to make all of its buildings and facilities accessible to all students. For more information on how ncn can support you, please see the Accessibility section.
Will I be the only mature student?
Absolutely not! One of the things we are the most proud of at ncn is the diverse nature of our student body.
We welcome applications from people of all ages, including those who have no formal qualifications. If you can demonstrate other relevant learning and/or experience, we will take this into account when considering your application.
Can I get childcare?
ncn is one of the largest registered childcare service providers in the East Midlands. The College has significant experience in providing innovative and quality childcare and education for children aged 0-8, and offers five full-day care nurseries; all settings are regulated and Ofsted inspected. See the Childcare section for more information.
Demand for places is high, so students are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Please telephone 0115 910 6314, or email nurseries@ncn.ac.uk for further information.
Where will I live?
ncn does not have college owned halls, but we do have extensive information on accommodation in Nottingham which has been accredited by the local authority to ensure that agreed university standards are met.
Rental costs in Nottingham ranges from approx. £50-£70 per week, plus approx £15 per week to cover gas, electricity, water, television etc.
For more information on accommodation issues please see the Accommodation page or call 0115 9 100 100 and ask for the Accommodation Officer.
Is there a Students' Union?
ncn has a supportive Students' Union, which all HE students can become a part of. As a member of the Students' Union, you will receive a joint ID/NUS (National Union of Students) card when you enrol.
Thanks to the groundbreaking partnership between the Students' Union and their counterparts at Nottingham Trent University, all HE students at ncn can take advantage of the considerable facilities on offer at NTU. From student bars to clubs and societies, the list is endless!
The Students' Union is run by students, for students and aims to represent them within the College and society as a whole. Alongside a team of volunteers, we provide all kinds of services and events across all campuses, such as Freshers' Fairs, campaigns, parties and trips. So whether you're interested in meeting like-minded people and starting a group dedicated to your interests, writing for the SU newsletter or simply attending our events, the Students' Union has something for you.

Can I get a job whilst I study?
Many students have a part-time job whilst studying to earn some extra spending money whilst at College or University. Many courses will allow you the time to combine study with work, but it is necessary to bear in mind that at certain times of the year you may have more study commitments so make sure your employer understands this.
Nottingham is a student’s city so there is a wide range of part-time jobs available that you should be able to fit round your study.
