The Sleeping Bag Project
30 January–3 February 2012
Foundation Art and Design students have transformed old sleeping bags into multi-functional objects as part of their course. The designs will be exhibited at ncn’s Lace Market Gallery until 3 February and will later be donated to Emmanuel House homeless shelter.
Through the exploration of ‘upcycling’ techniques the students used a range of design processes, from fabric manipulation through to re-design and re-structuring. Some of the sleeping bags were changed into multi-functional objects which transform from a functional sleeping bag into a garment or bag.
The exhibition is free to view Monday to Friday between 9am and 4.30pm at the ncn Lace Market Gallery, 25 Stoney Street.
