As an FE student your child could be eligible for a financial award (bursary) of £1,000 for every year of his or her one- or two-year NVQ/BTEC/'A' Level course plus a further £1,000 upon completion of Army basic training (lasting 14 weeks). This could mean £2,000 for a student on a Level 2 BTEC Diploma course and £3,000 for a student on the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma.
It doesn’t matter which subject your child is studying at college, what does matter is your child's commitment to completing the course and joining the Army afterwards.
Once your child has successfully completed his or her course, he or she will be able to join the Army in a guaranteed job, subject to final checks and references. With a choice of over 140 different career options: from medicine to administration, IT to playing in an Army band, there’s more to joining the Army than you’d think.
To be eligible for the award your child must be on at least a Level 2 or equivalent course and be aged between 16-29.
