As a new 16-18 year old student at ncn (you must be under 19 at 31 August in the academic year in which you start your course), you may be eligible to claim financial support from the 16-18 Bursary fund, which replaces the EMA scheme. There are two strands:
- young people who are in care, have recently left care, or who are in receipt of income support or disabled young people in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance will be eligible for a bursary of at least £1,200 per year (for a course of over 30 weeks)
- young people in financial hardship whose household income is below £20,817 will be eligible for financial support from the College which will be provided to help with the cost of travel, food and essential course-related costs
