Contact Captain Netty Cox, our Army Careers Adviser, on 0115 941 1939 or the ncn Student Funding Team on 0115 9 100 100.

As an FE student you could be eligible for a financial award (bursary) of £1,000 for every year of your one- or two-year NVQ/BTEC course plus a further £1,000 upon completion of Army basic training (lasting 14 weeks). This could mean £2,000 for a student on a First Diploma course and £3,000 for a student on the National Diploma.

Most subject areas qualify for an Army FE Bursary including: Administration, Building and Construction, Health and Social Care, Hospitality and Catering, ICT, Media and Communication, Music, Public Services, and Sports and Leisure.

Once you’ve successfully completed your course, you’ll be able to join the Army in a guaranteed job, subject to final checks and references. With a choice of over 140 different career options: from medicine to administration, IT to playing in an Army band, there’s more to joining the Army than you’d think.

To be eligible for the maximum award you should apply once you have a confirmed place at college and/or during the first six months of each academic year. Your EMA allowance is not affected by this bursary.
