Changing your Opera browser settings

For optimal compatibility with this website, we recommend that you use the latest version of Opera, which can be downloaded off the Opera website.

To change the font size for one page

  1. Go to the 'View' menu.
  2. Choose 'Zoom' and select a specific percentage or +/- 10%.
  3. Alternatively, go to the Magnifying icon in the bottom right of the browser window, and select your percentage from the drop-down box.

Zoom not only changes the font size, but also changes the size of any images.

To change the font size for all pages

  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu.
  2. Choose 'Preferences'.
  3. Select the 'Web Pages' tab.
  4. Change the page zoom to your preferred size.
  5. Click 'OK'.

Each page you now visit will be set to a particular size.

To remove the page style:

  1. Go to the 'View' menu.
  2. Choose 'Page Style'.
  3. Here you can select 'Author Mode', which styles the page as the web designer intended, 'User Mode', which styles the page as you want, or select from a range of styles available.

To change the fonts and colours:

  1. Go to the 'View' menu.
  2. Choose 'Page Style'.
  3. Select 'User Mode'.
  4. Go to the 'Tools' menu.
  5. Select 'Preferences'
  6. Click the 'Web Pages' tab.
  7. Select the fonts you prefer.
  8. Click on the 'Colours' button.
  9. Select the colours you prefer.
  10. Click 'OK'.

Selecting different fonts, background and text colours can help with readability. For example, people with dyslexia can use a light yellow or light blue background to make the text easier to read.

To stop images and graphics from loading:

  1. Go to the 'View' menu.
  2. Choose 'Images'.
  3. Select 'No Images'.
  4. Alternatively, click on the arrow next to the camera icon on the bottom right of the browser window, and select 'No Images'.

Stopping images and graphics from loading can reduce download time and make the page easier to read.

To change the size of the window:

  1. Click 'View' then 'Full Screen' from the toolbar, or press F11.

A full-screen browser window can be easier to read.
