Students at ncn can make a difference in their communities by volunteering.
We offer a wide variety of volunteering opportunities, which are extremely flexible and can fit around the student's study and social life. Students can get involved in a series of different one-day projects, course-related opportunities, or a regular volunteering commitment.
The VolShop
Students have been successfully volunteering at ncn for many years. The VolShop is for students of all ages.
What do I need to do?
All we ask of you is to give us some of your time, enthusiasm and dedication.
Do I need to have any experience?
No! We will arrange any further training or support that you need.
Why should I give up my time?
Volunteering isn’t simply about ‘do gooders’ and sacrificing all of your free time just to benefit others. You can also benefit from volunteering. You will be doing something you actually enjoy, as much or as little as you like, and will also:
- Meet a new and diverse range of people
- Develop your skills and abilities as part of your own personal development
- Gain experience in your particular area and become more employable
- Have fun in your spare time
- Try something new
- Give something back to your community
What kind of projects are out there?
Examples of existing projects/placements:
- Placements in the community
- Project Leaders designing their own projects
- Student-lead projects you can get involved in
Also, as a volunteer, you can attend any social, training or celebratory events, organised throughout the year by the Volunteering staff to bring volunteers together. You could use these opportunities to gain experience in organising, promoting, marketing and fund-raising, or just come along and have some fun. You could also:
- Contribute to the Volunteering Newsletter.
- Attend support and feedback meetings and even run for Project Leader
- Assist in promoting student volunteering to other students within the College
- Anything you can think of!
