We were congratulated at the Midlands Excellence Awards (on 3 February) for achieving the prestigious Training Quality Standard (TQS).

In front of more than 1,150 business leaders, the College was one of eight providers recognised for meeting the rigorous demands of the Standard.

Designed to highlight and celebrate the best organisations delivering training and development solutions to employers, TQS is a mark that can be recognised by employers as a sign that a provider will offer them training and development solutions that positively impact on their business needs.

ncn was first awarded TQS in January 2010 for its commitment to delivering high quality, high impact training and workforce development solutions. In November 2010 the College achieved TQS Part B for its industry knowledge and understanding of the construction, retail and adult social care sectors, and for meeting the specific training requirements of employers within these areas. ncn was also the first college in the East Midlands to achieve TQS Part B for excellence in construction.

Geoff Hall, ncn Principal, said: “I am very proud of the way in which the College is supporting employers, from small companies through to large private and public sector organisations. This award recognises our commitment to providing a quality customer experience.”

Midlands Excellence’s subsidiary Investors in Excellence is a national assessment and certification body for the Standard and has assessed 200 providers over the past two years.

Speaking after the gala ceremony at The ICC in Birmingham, Investors in Excellence Chief Executive, Ian Nield, said: “Obtaining the Training Quality Standard is a fantastic achievement for any organisation and I congratulate New College Nottingham wholeheartedly.”
