The ncn team learn about the local tourism industry

A team of Hospitality Management and Tourism staff from ncn visited The Gambia from 8 to 15 January to develop a special training programme for the Gambian tourism industry in conjunction with the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).
The project is supported by the British Council’s Education Partnerships in Africa (EPA) initiative, which aims to deliver employability skills to the African workforce.
The group met with senior representatives from the GTTI and other key partners to design training for in-service first line managers employed in the African country’s Hospitality and Tourism industries.
Four core modules, focused on the growth and sustainability of tourism in The Gambia through effective training and management development, will be delivered to approximately 65 participants after Easter.
Mandy Gordon, ncn’s Project Administrator for the Gambian training project, commented on her experience: “The visit improved my understanding of the partnership at a local level, and allowed the team to see how our work with the GTTI will help The Gambia as a whole.”
Future plans include teaching supervisors to deliver their own training, and study visits to the UK.
