College thanked for charity fundraiser

Staff and students were among those recognised for their help raising money for a local cancer care charity at a reception on Tuesday 27 July, hosted by former Mayor of Gedling, Cllr Suzanne Prew-Smith.

The ncn Hospitality and Catering students worked alongside staff from the Lace Market Hotel to help raise £1200 for Nottinghamshire Leukaemia Appeal Supporting Myeloma, at an alternative Christmas meal and cookery demonstration hosted by the then Mayor during her term of office.

Faye Boucher, ncn Curriculum Leader, said: “The charity event not only raised money for a good cause, but also provided our work-based and full-time learners with valuable experience of working in a new venue and catering for a large function.”

Cllr Prew-Smith presented the charity with a cheque for more than £15,000 on the night, which she raised through a number of charity events throughout the year.
