Sarah Knight, Foundation Degree Music and Sonic Arts (Performance) student, spent a day recording at the world-famous Abbey Road studios on 29 March after winning the Music For Real competition organised by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS).

A panel of judges, including Marc Fox, head of A&R at Universal and DJ Toddla T, selected her as the winner following an online vote.

Sarah said: “Recording at Abbey Road was the most amazing experience of my life. I recorded two of my own songs and nearly cried when I heard them as I was so happy. I also visited Studio Two, where The Beatles recorded a lot of their songs.”

Sarah currently writes and sings for progressive pop-metal band Clockworkz, who have completed four tours of Germany and play regularly in Nottingham and the surrounding area.

David Collins, chief executive of LSIS said: “The selection of videos we have seen demonstrate just what terrific creative talent there is among learners in the learning and skills sector. It must have been a tough task for the judges to find a winner and I have to offer my congratulations to Sarah on behalf of LSIS, I think we could have found a new star here!”
