Two Foundation Degree Fashion Interpretation and Practice students have won gold awards in the national WorldSkills UK Made to Measure Fashion Design competition.

Savannah Bailey and Markus Wernitznig competed against Fashion students and trainees from across the UK, making up a finished garment from their original denim jacket design. Fellow student Kristie Walker earned a bronze award.

Made to Measure seeks to highlight, develop and promote the real, practical skills of fashion design through an exciting and challenging competition for students and recent industry recruits.

Geoff Hall, ncn Principal and WorldSkills UK Champion, said: “Markus, Savannah and Kristie have worked tirelessly to perform at the highest level at the same time as creating their own final fashion collections, and these fantastic results speak volumes about their talent and professionalism.”

National WorldSkills UK Competition Gold Award winners are recognised at the annual
WorldSkills UK Competition Award Ceremony. WorldSkills UK, managed by UK Skills, is the UK’s premier set of skills competitions and continues to play a key part in raising standards in professional training and performance.

Outstanding competitors from the national competitions may be selected to join the short listing process for the chance to represent the UK at the international WorldSkills Competition in London next year.
