Geoff Hall, Principal, has announced that he will retire at the end of the next academic year, i.e. with effect from 31 July 2011.
By this time, Geoff will have served as New College Nottingham (ncn) Principal for seven and a half years, and as Deputy to Dame Pat Morgan-Webb for two years prior to succeeding her in January 2004.
In his letter to the Chair of the Corporation, he says: “Leading ncn has been an immense privilege and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to do so… the decision to retire is a personal one. The main motivation is to spend far more time with my wife, to smell the roses, enjoy the coffee and walk our dog. I might even write the occasional book.”
Anne Adams, Chair of the Corporation, said: “Geoff has led ncn as Principal and Chief Executive for the past six years. His leadership has been a great asset to the College and the Board, and I have no doubt that he will leave ncn in a strong position for the future.”
The ncn Board reluctantly accepted Geoff’s notice of resignation at the 19 May Corporation meeting and commented: “We appreciate Geoff’s corporate magnanimity in providing us with an extended period of notice, and we are putting in place arrangements for recruiting a new Principal to succeed Geoff following his retirement in July next year.”
The Board will have the opportunity to thank Geoff for his service to the College in due course but in the meantime it will be very much business as usual.
