An ncn staff team delivered a five-day intensive training programme to 70 delegates from the Gambian tourism and hospitality industry in the West African country in April.

The training scheme is a key output of the ncn/Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI)/Education Partnerships in Africa (EPA) British Council alliance. It aims to make a positive impact on the strategic and operational aspects of sustainable tourism in The Gambia by developing the capacity of in-service managers and supervisory staff to improve customer service and the tourist’s experience.

The School of Food, Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism staff delivered training modules in sales promotion, quality management, customer service and supervisory management to Gambian supervisors, managers, teachers and trainers. The course ended with a certificate presentation with the Honourable Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

Adrian Pratt, ncn Director of Lifestyle and EPA British Council Project Director, commented: “The design, delivery and intended outcomes of the training far exceeded expectations and we have received extremely positive feedback from partners and key stakeholders. This exciting project will result in improved outcomes for Gambian employers, learners and economy through a joint sustainable programme of activities.”
