Steven Ward's winning poster
Students from the Media BTEC National Diploma course (interactive media, games and digital graphics) have been working with Nottinghamshire Police to design a poster for a national campaign which aims to reduce gun and knife crime involving young people.
17-year-old, Steven Ward (interactive media) was chosen as the overall winner. His work is now being displayed on buses and trams across the county.
He said: “Working on this project has given me the opportunity to express my creativity. Seeing my design on public display is amazing and has given me more confidence in my ability.”
Leila Gold, Head of Marketing for Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The students were told their design needed to show how carrying a knife could result in becoming a victim yourself, and we had some fantastic entries. We chose Steven’s design because it has got a great visual impact, and we think its style will appeal to young people.”
ncn Lecturer, Rudy Butler, added: “This was probably the most challenging piece of work our students have done, due to the serious nature of the knife crime campaign. The competition had a very positive reaction from our students; they were thrilled to be part of such a big project.”
