Matt Roe with Marco Pierre
White at 'Wheelers'
Professional Cookery apprentice, Matt Roe, attended a masterclass with top chef Marco Pierre White at his London restaurant ‘Wheelers’ on Tuesday 23 February. Matt, who is employed by G4 Inns Ltd, learnt how to prepare a range of dishes from the restaurant’s a la carte menu with Pierre White and his team, along with 14 fellow apprentices from around the country.
Marco Pierre White said: "It was a pleasure to meet the fifteen apprentices. In my opinion, an Apprenticeship is a passport to a future career. Apprenticeships are the future."
Throughout the morning, Chef Pierre White, an ex-apprentice himself, gave insight into his own experience and advised the budding chefs on how to enhance their prospects.
Matt said: “Marco’s reputation precedes him, foremost for his food, but also his character. He certainly doesn’t disappoint. I’ve learnt so much I wanted to stay longer!
"I can't imagine doing anything other than an Apprenticeship - you get so much practical experience and learn how a commercial kitchen works."
