Budding young chefs from across Nottingham graduated from the latest Junior Chefs Academy (JCA) and Pastry Chefs Academy (PCA) on Saturday 20 March at New College Nottingham.
The 23 school pupils had spent nine Saturday mornings being trained in either food preparation and cooking techniques or hot and cold desserts and pastry products in the ncn Clarendon training kitchens.
The graduation event included a 3-course lunch created by the young chefs for their friends and family, and a certificate presentation by Susannah Spencer from sponsors Compass Group PLC.
Bryony Lewis, PCA graduate, said: “I really enjoyed the cooking and I have now been offered a place at ncn Clarendon in September to train to be a chef.”
The JCA programme was developed by Compass Group PLC to attract and develop young talent into the hospitality sector. An ongoing programme with ncn, it provides school pupils with a unique opportunity to test out their potential career path in a realistic working environment.
ncn also offers the following junior academies for 14-16 year old school pupils: Junior All Stars (Performing Arts or Music Industry), Junior Construction, Junior Fashion, Junior Hair and Beauty, Junior Digital Arts, Junior Reporters’ and Junior Science.
