Markus proudly displays his
award and winning design
Fashion student Markus Wernitznig has won the silver medal in the national WorldSkills UK Made to Measure fashion design competition, after beating off stiff competition from university-level candidates.
His innovative shirt-dress design was showcased at Graduate Fashion Week, where he collected his award to riotous applause from his fellow students. Markus entered WorldSkills UK following his success in a college competition.
As his prize, Markus will now spend a day working at Fashionizer, an international designer of high-end couture uniforms for the hotel industry.
He said: “I was shocked but very happy to win as the level of competition was really high. It was wonderful to be supported by my classmates at the event.
“The whole experience was constructive for me as I gained real insight into the standard of work required in the industry and the pressure of tight deadlines.”
The Made to Measure competition is run in conjunction with Skillfast-UK, the Sector Skills Council for fashion and textiles
