ncn and Basford Children's Centre held a special event on Tuesday 15 December at Heathfield Park Community Centre to launch a new ‘Young Mums, Dads and Carers Group’.

Starting in January, the group aims to give young parents and carers the confidence to consider returning to education, as well as teaching them practical parenting skills such as baby massage and first aid. It will also offer career advice taster sessions in areas such as skills for life, interior design and photography.

The group will be held at the Heathfield Park Community Centre. Any young parents/carers interested in finding out more can call Basford Children’s Centre for more information on 0115 915 7611 or 07949 727 079.

Heather Ridgway, ncn Head of School, explained: “The Young Mums, Dads and Carers Group has been set up to inspire, inform and support young parents and carers who may otherwise not continue with their education, and we are pleased to be working in conjunction with Basford Children’s Centre staff to deliver the programme.

Councillor David Mellen, Nottingham City Council Portfolio Holder for Children’s Centres, said: “It’s great to see partners continuing the drive to raise aspirations in the city and make a real difference to young people’s lives.”
