Young graduates celebrate with family and guests

Graham Allen MP presents Stuart Milleker
with his certificate
Young learners at ncn graduated from the Schools Outsourced Provision (SOP), a two-year programme of study designed for 14 - 16 year olds, on 10th July. The students celebrated at a special awards event held at ncn Basford Hall and were presented with their graduation certificates by Graham Allen MP.
SOP courses at ncn have been designed to give year 10 pupils more choice and the opportunity to learn academic and vocational skills alongside their GCSE’s. The programme requires the pupils to attend College two to three hours each week for two years. This year the College celebrated students graduating in Construction and GCSE Law.
The following students were presented with ‘Student of the Year’ awards in recognition of their commitment and dedication during the course: Mitchell Thomas for GCSE Law and Josh Cheetham, Billy Stevenson, and Rebecca Rayns for Construction. In addition, Stuart Milleker (Construction) was presented with a new ‘Most Improved Student’ award for his progress and determination.
ncn Programme Area Manager, Derek Graham, commented: “SOP provides 14 - 16 learners with the opportunity to gain skills, knowledge and qualifications that will support their chosen career path. It is our aim to provide students with the extra experience and support they need to help them progress to further education, work-based learning or employment. We are extremely proud of all our students. They have worked tremendously hard over the past two years and have demonstrated high levels of commitment and enthusiasm.”
ncn has a number of SOP courses available for 14 – 16 year olds including: Art & Design, Construction, Childcare, Catering & Hospitality, Fashion Design, and Hair & Beauty.
