Two ncn Construction students have achieved first and second place at the Midlands heat of SkillPLUMB, a competition organised by SummitSkills, sector Skills Council for building services engineering.
Sam Gilhooly, currently studying Level three Plumbing at ncn and employed by Field Associates in Mansfield took first place. ncn Work Based Learner, Luke Judge, employed by A. Sam and Luke competed against ten other contestants from the Midlands in a challenging two-day competition which included a theory examination and a seven-hour practical test based on a real-life work situation involving installing pipework, valves and jointing. The winners of the Midlands heats will battle it out in the WorldSkills UK Plumbing final in October.
ncn Plumbing lecturer, Andrew Lee, commented: “For two ncn students to achieve such a prestigious plumbing accolade is an excellent achievement. They both have worked extremely hard during the process and I wish them success in the next round of the competition.”
