Cutting the mustard: Liam Pykett
ncn hosted the Nottingham Restaurant Awards ‘Young Chef of the Year’ competition on 1st June in the Adams Restaurant & Brasserie.
ncn Professional Cookery apprentice, Liam Pykett – who was nominated by his employer and then shortlisted for a place in the final - created a trio of Derbyshire spring lamb with peas and minted jus, followed by dark chocolate and saffron fondant with tonka bean foam and cherries.
Four Michelin-starred chefs including Nottingham’s own Sat Bains joined the judging panel.
Liam is waiting to find out his results, as the winner will be announced at the official awards ceremony on 17th June at Colwick Hall, which will be hosted by television personality Mark Durden-Smith.
Two other finalists, Daniel Cartledge from Tonic and Nathaniel Tofan from Saltwater, previously graduated from ncn catering courses.
