WorldSkills London 2011

Three NVQ level 2 Health & Social Care students from New College Nottingham (ncn) have been awarded Star Units to reward them for their commitment and dedication to achieving excellence in their learning.
The learners are studying with ncn and partner organisation Inspire Training. They were nominated for ‘going the extra mile’ and producing some excellent work. Star Units have been designed by UK Skills and City & Guilds to encourage and reward hardworking and ambitious NVQ learners who produce exceptional results in the workplace. A special ceremony was held in Nuneaton at the end of January to present the awards.
Inderjeet Rangarhia, 36, from Cinderhill is currently working as a Care Assistant for Direct Health UK whilst completing her NVQ. She explains: “I was very surprised and excited to find out I had been nominated for a Star Unit. It feels great that my work has been recognised and I enjoyed meeting others at the awards ceremony who have been through a similar experience.”
She sees the course as a great stepping stone to reach her long term goal of becoming a nurse: “I plan to go into nursing eventually, and for me this is the best way. It would have been very difficult for me to give up work and study full time. This way I can work and learn simultaneously.”
Caroline Sheffield and Karen Cann, both ncn Health and Social Care students with Inspire Training, were also awarded Star Units.
