Construction student Tom Healy has won a RAC Magazine ‘National Student of the Year’ award, which recognises excellence in refrigeration and air conditioning engineering.
Tom, who is employed by Bradley Refrigeration, received the bronze award and £300 cash prize. Additionally, ncn students; Christopher James Heritage and Jonathan Mather were both recognised as finalists receiving certificates. The awards ceremony was held at a special gala luncheon at the Belfry Hotel, Birmingham in December 2008.
Each applicant had to supply a range of testimonials from their employers, customers and College tutors. Out of 40 nominations only 10 students were shortlisted as finalists. Judges from across the industry then picked first, second and third place winners.
ncn Head of School for Construction, Denis Scott, commented: “For three of our Construction students to be selected for this prestigious industry award is fantastic. This is huge recognition of the first-rate training we provide at the College.”
ncn is the largest provider of construction training in the East Midlands. The specialist workshops at ncn Basford Hall include facilities for all sectors of the construction industry. Each area is fully equipped with the materials and machinery required for students to practice their skills in a professional, hands-on environment.
