Stacey Francis and Simone Grant at the Trade Fair
BND Business students staged two ‘International Trade Fairs’ during February and early March. The students were split into small teams and given a brief to take a product made in the UK and choose two foreign countries to sell it to. Examples included snack products, televisions and motorcycles. The teams then developed a business strategy for their chosen product and staffed a stand at a trade fair to pitch their business plans to delegates.
Visitors to the event were ncn staff playing the role of members of the Government Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The trade fairs gave students the opportunity to test their business skills and present their findings in an environment close to that of a real business trade fair.
Phil Guy, Course Leader BND Business, sums up the trade fairs: “The events were excellent: the students were enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their businesses and markets and they really impressed the guests.”
