New College Nottingham (ncn) Construction students virtually swept the board at the 4th annual East Midlands Building Services Engineering Training Awards on the 14th October, winning five out of a total of six awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
James Clark was awarded ‘Intermediate Apprentice of the Year’, Luke Wayne ‘Senior Apprentice of the Year - Silver’, Matthew Green ‘Senior Apprentice of the Year -Gold’ Thomas Mizuro ‘Incorporated Engineer of the Year’, and Daniel Lyth was honoured with the title of ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’.
Held at the Severn Trent Conference Centre in Cropston, Leicester, the Awards have been arranged by the Heating & Ventilating Contractors’ Association (HVCA) and Building Engineering Services Training (BEST) with the aim of paying tribute to the experience and talent shown by young engineers, together with the support shown by their employers, families and training providers.
At the ceremony, the winners received an engraved trophy and a framed certificate. ncn also received framed certificates to acknowledge the support the College has given to the students. Qualifying winners from the Regional Awards may be nominated for the SummitSkills National Awards being held at the British Library, London, in March 2009.
