Once Upon a Time Nurseries

Once Upon a Time day nurseries offer every child a safe and welcoming environment in which to learn and develop. 

Our childcare professionals will work with you to ensure your child’s nursery experience is tailored to his or her individual needs. 

Nurseries are based at college campuses in the city centre, Sherwood and Basford and are open to staff, students and the wider public. 

You can expect:

  • High quality provision rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted
  • Highly qualified childcare team
  • A dedicated key person for your child

Your child’s experience

Each day your child will learn and have fun in a setting tailored to their developmental stage. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully crafted to provide maximum opportunities for children to develop their physical, social, thinking and communications skills. 

Ratios

6wks-2 years: 1:3
2-3 years: 1:4
3-5 years+: 1:8

Team

Our nursery team members are all qualified at Level 2 or 3. In each of our developmental spaces, there will always be at least one member of the team with a Level 3 qualification.

We are also committed to training the childcare professionals of the future, so we do have Apprentices working towards Level 2 and 3 qualifications in our settings, who always work under full supervision of course. 

Relationship with parents

Your child will be given a key person who is responsible for their wellbeing and development and is your ‘go to’ person in the nursery. 

If your child is under 2 years old, you’ll receive a sheet every day outlining their progress. From 2 years upwards, parents will be given verbal feedback at the end of each day, and parents will also be invited to a open evenings throughout the year. 

We have an open door policy, which means you’re welcome to come in at a mutually convenient time to talk about any concerns you may have about your child with their key person, who will be happy to listen and find solutions with you.
