Luke Burton
Design BA (Hons)
“I discovered this course in ncn’s University-level prospectus. I considered other institutions, but felt that the course overview gave me a more in-depth understanding of what was involved, much more so than any of the other Design courses that were on offer locally.
“I particularly enjoy being given the time and space to develop my own ideas and find my own style, whilst knowing that help is always there if I need it. The tutors have helped me to pinpoint my strengths and investigate ways in which to improve them. The studio space is buzzing and focused and I think the atmosphere on this course is better than on any course I’ve done before.
“I have found time management particularly challenging – there’s a great deal of work to do and you have to juggle various deadlines. But the tutors are very approachable and are always willing to help you when needed.
“The resources at ncn are a great advantage, both in an academic and social sense. We have access to print-making facilities and a photography studio and darkroom, which really help with the course. There are also lots of opportunities to interact with like-minded designers from other disciplines (Graphics, 3D and Fashion), so you’re constantly exposed to new ideas and alternative methods of working.
“Once I’ve finished studying, I’d like to begin my career in the Design industry. I’d be happy to work in any sector of Design; the course has given me a good overview of what is out there, so I don’t feel that I’ve been channelled into any particular area.”
