What kind of student is this course suitable for?
Both experimental and practical in approach, this course offers you an opportunity to develop new ideas and learn new techniques. Areas of study include: history of photography (equipment, materials, photographers and photographic movements); general photographic theory; darkroom skills for black and white photography; digital photography, using Photoshop and photographic contextual studies.
Teaching and learning
Tutorials are held on a regular basis throughout the course; they are a good chance to discuss your progress and to talk about your personal investigation/study or any issues you might have. We operate an open door principle; apart from timetabled sessions you are encouraged to use the studios at any time to continue your studies.
Homework is set on a regular basis and may take the form of a visual sketchbook, written work or a research project.
