BugArts students unveil their mural
Plantastic learner, Ashleigh Raynor and Head of Faculty,
Michelle Iannantuono officially open the new lodge
New lodge is PlantTastic!
ncn launched its PlantTastic lodge at Cavendish Road allotment in Carlton on 23 May 2011. The lodge has been built so that learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LLDD) can use it as an outdoor classroom and garden store to support their learning.
The facility has been funded by a grant from Nottinghamshire Community Foundation’s Grassroots initiative. As a result of the lodge being built the Plantastic students can now spend all day on site, even in bad weather.
The Grassroots grant has also funded other essential resources, from teaching aids such as a whiteboard and furniture, to a water retrieval and storage system and tools like spades, forks, hoes and trowels.
BugArts, another of ncn’s Enterprise Business Groups, designed a mural depicting some of the activities that go on at the allotments, which was unveiled at the launch.
