The Student Finance team is here to help you in two ways:

  • To give you advice and help on financial matters
  • To ensure that if you are eligible you will receive financial support from the most suitable fund

Financial Assistance Forms and Student Guides are available from any ncn College Reception Point, or by telephoning the Student Finance team on 0115 9 100 100.

Further Education Students

Depending on your household income, you could receive a payment at the beginning of each of the three terms as a contribution towards your College-related expenses. Funding may be available for students with a household income of around £20,816 or less.

If your residency status is listed below, you may be eligible to obtain financial assistance:

  • EU/EEA citizen
  • Refugee
  • Indefinite leave to remain/enter

Every effort is made to ensure accuracy of this information, however it is advisable to check up-to-date information prior to enrolment. Please check with the Student Finance team on 0115 9 100 100 if you are eligible to receive funding.

Part-time students’ funding will be calculated on a pro-rata basis according to the number of guided learning hours.

Higher Education Students

Prospective students from England should contact Student Finance England as soon as possible to obtain details of the funding that is available.

Students can find out more and apply online at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance, or by calling 0845 300 50 90. Full-time students can apply online for student support. However, part-time students will need to request a paper-based application form from Student Finance England.

New students
31 May 2012 is the deadline for applying for your student finance so, if you’re planning to start a full-time course at university or college later this year and haven’t applied yet for your student finance, go online today and apply at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance You don’t have to have a confirmed place – simply use your first choice of course and change it online at a later date if you need to.

Continuing students
29 June 2012 is the deadline for re-applying for your student finance so, if you’re returning to a full-time course at university or college later this year and haven’t applied yet for your student finance, go online today and apply at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

Once you have enrolled at ncn you may be eligible for additional financial assistance through the Access to Learning Fund if you run into financial difficulties.

What is the Access to Learning Fund?

The Access to Learning Fund (ALF) is designed to help students in financial hardship who may need extra support to remain in college.

Who can apply?

The fund is available to home students on full-time university-level courses at New College Nottingham. Applicants are expected to meet certain residency conditions.

How much help could I get?

Awards do vary, but students could receive up to £2,000. All applications are means tested and based on your personal circumstances.

How do I apply?

Applications can be accepted throughout the academic year. However, you are encouraged to apply early. Contact the College’s HE Welfare and Finance Adviser, Helen Lucas, on 0115 910 4590 to check if your course qualifies.

Completed Access to Learning Fund Application Form and supporting documents should be returned to the address provided on the form.
